Mass Effect Xbox 360

Mass Effect 2 – Quick Review For Xbox 360 and PC by Andrew Meer
Upto now Mass Effect 2 is probably the best game to come out to the PC and Xbox 360 this year, which was published by non-other than Bioware, makers of Dragon Age: Origins, which bagged the award for game of the year for the PC from IGN last year. Bioware has always been great on the side of story telling, and you won’t be a bit dissapointed with Mass Effect 2, where nearly every dialog option has an impact on the story.
Upon playing I noticed some immediate changes in gameplay, the most prominent being the RPG elements. Most of the RPG elements from Mass Effect 1 has been removed, where the player can upgrade only a selected number of skills for each character class. If you were ask me on which genre Mass Effect 2 should be classified, the definite answer would be tha it’s a role playing shooter, and not an RPG because of the fewer RPG elements in the game.
The shooting mechanics has been improved tremendously with a lot more cover animations for Commander Shepard. Nothing feels as satifying as slipping into cover Gears Of War style! Exploring on the Mako has been scrapped entirely, which was a bit dissapointing. The driving in Mass Effect 1 sucked, but I hoped they would have improved it. But anyway Bioware has stated that a future DLC will include a shuttle that can be operated in real time which should be really cool. The best of Mass Effect 2 can be enjoyed only if you have an imported Shepard from Mass Effect 1, where even the most insigficant of choices made in the original game comes back to haunt you.
The graphics in Mass Effect 2 shows a tremendous improvement over its predecessor, with the Unreal Engine 3 been tweaked for optimal performance. I heard a couple of people saying that Mass Effect 2 ran better on their PCs than Mass Effect 1, even on higher resolutions. The sounds are simply epic, no complaints there! Voice acting is simply superb. But Mass Effecct 2 also has its share of problems with visual glictches and invisible barriers but nothing sever to hinder gameplay. If you run into a glitch simply load from your last checkpoint, which should definitely clear it up, and which is my only piece of advice. Let’s hope that Mass Effect 3 comes soon. Have fun playing!
